States, coverage and availability

A confirmed failure is different from a missing observation. Read coverage alongside availability.

Interpret a state

Read the percentage with its coverage

Availability uses elapsed time between state transitions. Maintenance and unknown time are excluded from the measured period. A perfect percentage of watched time does not prove every minute had data.

When an agent is missing

Check its connection, capabilities and allowed destinations before concluding that all services on its network failed. Unknown never proves a service failure by itself.
